HURLEY: But how? People can’t leave the Island.
BEN: That’s how Jacob ran things… Maybe there’s another way. A better way.

DESMOND: What happened?
PENNY: Well, I shook your hand and then you fainted. I must have quite an effect on you.
DESMOND: Aye, aye you must have.
PENNY: Have we met before?
DESMOND: I-I think we’d have remembered it, if we had.
PENNY: Yeah. Well, as long as you’re sure you’re all right.
DESMOND: Yeah, I’m fine. Hey, listen, um, would you like to go for a coffee?
PENNY: What, now? I’m a sweaty mess.
DESMOND: I just fainted in front of you. I’d say we’re even.
PENNY: There’s a coffee shop on the corner of Sweetzer and Melrose. I’ll meet you there in an hour.
DESMOND: Absolutely.
PENNY: Okay.
DESMOND: Okay.

Charlie: There was this woman two rows in front of me in handcuffs, sitting with a cop. He looked at me, he knew I was holding. If I didn’t take action, I’d be caught. So I got up and went to the lav, proceeded to eliminate the evidence by swallowing my stash. And at that exact moment, we hit turbulence and I choked. The entire bag of heroin was stuck in my throat. Uh, it’s over. Everything starts to go dark. I’m slipping into the abyss and then, I see her. A woman, blonde, rapturously beautiful… and I know her. We’re together. Like we’ve always been and always will be. Feeling this love, and just as I’m about to be engulfed by it, I open my eyes and this sodding idiot is standing there, asking me if I’m okay. But I saw it. Just for a moment I saw what it looked like.

I cry every time I see the episode where we find out what Desmond names his son.
Doc Ray: Kevin, this is uh,
Sayid: Sayid.
Desmond: Desmond.
Michael: Kevin Johnson.
Sayid: Nice to meet you Kevin.
*WTF moment of season 4 (so far). Michael shows up as Ben’s spy on the freighter. Seeing as he was so desperate to get off the island with Walt, I was a little surprised (to say the least) when he came back. Never did like him much, he was an ass who shot one of my favorite characters.
This is another fantastic episode. I might be biased in my Desmond Hume and Daniel Faraday love. They are both great characters.
PENNY: Hello?
DESMOND: Penny?
PENNY: Desmond?
DESMOND: Penny…Penny, answer. Answer, Penny.
PENNY: Des, where are you?
DESMOND: I’m…I’m on a boat. Um…I’ve been on an island, and—- Oh, my god, Penny. Is that really you?
PENNY: Yeah! Yes, it’s me!
DESMOND: You believe me? You still care about me?
PENNY: Des, I’ve been looking for you for the past three years. I know about the island. I’ve been researching and then when I spoke to your friend Charlie, that’s when I knew you were still alive. That’s when I knew I wasn’t crazy. Des, are you still there!?
DESMOND: Yes, yes, I’m here! I’m still here, can you hear me?
PENNY: Yeah, yeah, that’s better.
DESMOND: I love you, Penny. I’ve always loved you. I’m so sorry. I love you!
PENNY: I love you too.
DESMOND: I don’t know where I am, but—
PENNY: I’ll find you, Des—
DESMOND: —I promise—
PENNY: —no matter what—
DESMOND: —I’ll come back to you—
PENNY: —I won’t give up—
BOTH: I promise. I love you.
PENNY: Hello?! Can you hear me?
CHARLIE: Yes, yes I can hear you.
PENNY: Who is this? Who am I speaking to?
CHARLIE: Charlie er… Charlie Pace, I’m a survivor of Flight eight-one-five, Oceanic Flight eight-one-five.
PENNY: Er… where are you?
CHARLIE: We’re on an Island, we’re alive.
PENNY: An Island!! Well where, what’s your location?
CHARLIE: I dunno. Who’s this?
PENNY: This is Penelope. Penelope Widmore. How did you get this frequency?
CHARLIE: Desmond? Desmond!
PENNY: Did you just say Desmond?
CHARLIE: Yeah, he’s here, he’s with me.
PENNY: Is he OK?
CHARLIE: He’s brilliant! Hey, are you on the boat?
PENNY: What, what boat?
CHARLIE: Your boat, eighty miles off shore. Er… Naomi, parachutist.
PENNY: But, I’m not on a boat, who, who’s Naomi?
PENNY: Hello, hello is Desmond there? Desmond, can you hear me? Desmond?
PENNY: Can you hear me?
DESMOND: Penny!!! No…
DESMOND: Charlie!!!

PENNY: I think we should be able to fit it all in the back, and if not we’ll put the rest in the front. Is that alright?
DESMOND: Absolutely.You better drive safe Miss, this vineyard only makes a limited number of these cases each year.
PENNY: Is that so?
DESMOND: Aye, its cause the monks are lazy. Yeah its easier making grape jelly than wine.
PENNY: And how do you know so much about monks?
DESMOND: Cause I’m an ex-monk.
PENNY: Really?
DESMOND: As of last night. I was fired. Ah, it wasn’t that funny.
PENNY: I’m sorry I never I, I didn’t know monks could be fired.
DESMOND: Oh they can. You know I was told under no uncertain terms that the abbey wasn’t where I was menna end up. Just a, step along a path. You know, God allegedly has bigger plans for me.
PENNY: Something tells me you don’t entirely believe that.
DESMOND: I suggest that’s because I don’t.
PENNY: Well maybe they’re right. I mean, just think, if you hadn’t have got fired, we wouldn’t have met, and then, how could you possibly help me unload these crates in Carlisle.
DESMOND: Did I say I was coming to Carlisle with you?
PENNY: Not yet.I mean of course if an ex-monk already has plans, then…
DESMOND: You know I don’t usually get into cars with strangers.
PENNY: Well in that case I’m Penelope. Penny.
DESMOND: Desmond. Very nice to meet you, Penny.
